It’s official. Anjali Wadhwani is my most favorite designer in Pune. Contemporary styling with a touch of timelessness, she proves her mettle with every design she creates. Her latest collection of tops will pass with ‘flying colours’ in all of your books. Unseen and unimagined, you bet you wouldn’t find it anywhere in town. For that, Anjali Wadhwani, take a bow!
Here’s all that you need to know on 5 outfits from her recent collection which are my favourites. Single toned, simple, elegant and contemporary, in fluid comfortable fabrics, this collection will not fail to grab your precious attention. Colour, comfort, unconventional designs are the strong pillars of this outstanding collection. Delighted is an understatement to describe the feeling you will get on donning them.
The Algae Green top with an asymmetrical fall and one-sided pleats is the stuff that gives work-wear fashion a new name! It truly reflects Anjali Wadhwani’s uniqueness. A perfect 9 to 9 outfit, this one is for the bold ladies who do not shy from letting their hair down after a hard day’s work. Here, I have paired it with an off-white lace hot pants, shocking pink shoes and matching clutch and loved the result. For work, simply pair it with a light coloured well fitted trousers for an equally stunning result. Not to mention, the heads turning wherever you go! A chunky neck piece lends it a character without taking away from the glory of the top. Shooting for this top was fun at Chai in Viman Nagar, on a sunny afternoon, over a pint of chilled iced tea.
If there ever was to be a category of dreamy tops, this piece would make the cut without a doubt. I fell in love with this celeste top the moment I laid eyes on it. Apart from its beautiful colour, it has an unconventional layered fall on one side which immediately gravitates you towards it. A tad above your average classic shirt tops. Accessorize with a pearl neck piece which would rightly complement this diaphanous and elegant top.
The next number spells FUN in every bit of its being! This light baby pink top is the reason why swooning over Aerosmith’s obsessive song ‘Pink’ would be every bit justified. It gets its character from the neatly designed choir boy sleeves and the dainty embellished belt, just above the mid cut. Perfect for catching up with your friends on a sunny day over brunch at a lovely cafe in town. Like I did at The French Window Patisserie! Quaintly located near Lane 5 of Koregaon Park, it is one of those cute cafes where you would want to unwind on a pleasant day. Shooting here with the outfit was fun, as it’s pretty bistro set up went perfectly with the baby pink top. For the love of pink, adding my pink Louis Vuitton purse and neon strap heels to the look seemed like a good idea to overindulge in all-pink!
The next white number can be described as revolutionary at the best. The way they say, “stuff that dreams are made of”; one look at this top and you will know how apt that phrase goes here. Anjali Wadhwani has outdone herself with this creation which is sheer craftsmanship. A white structured top with a beaded strap on one side and a flared full sleeve, preceded by a light ruffle around the neckline, on the other side, leaves anyone who lays eyes on it awestruck. You can take my word for it, when I say, “I am enchanted!”. Pairing it with a seasoned embellished skirt (which I have had in my wardrobe for a long time) was perfect. Apart from complementing with basic essentials like nude heels and bright lips, the top speaks for itself. Shot at one of my favourite places in Pune, Independence Brewery, which I love for its rustic interior, spacious feel and a cool range of freshly brewed beers.
This last piece about my love affair with Anjali Wadhwani’s latest collection marks a sweet end to this post. This deep blue cocktail dress, with definitive pleats and an almost high low look, is just mesmerising. The fit is perfect, the look stunning and the feel, like a princess! Flaunt it, not just at cocktail parties, but also dare to don it on bright and pleasant brunch days!
With this stunning collection, Anjali Wadhwani has created a wave of ethereal designs like never before. Do I need to say more on the prowess of this powerhouse of a designer?
